A group of travellers set off in the footsteps of a man to whom their families owe nothing less than their lives: Aristides de Sousa Mendes. In June 1940, when he was Consul General of Portugal in Bordeaux, he issued passports and transit visas to thousands of people, many of them European Jews, so that they could escape from the Nazis.
