In the German capital, a quarter of children live in poverty. The Marzahn-Hellersdorf district is one of the worst affected areas where poverty and low-educational attainment go hand in hand. Social mobility is stalling in these areas, but many local people refuse to accept their fate and are fighting to improve their lives.
