The Vikings, Christopher Columbus, Charles Lindbergh... The Atlantic Ocean has long been traversed by the greatest explorers. It is also here that global trade developed. World War II, and especially the Cold War, gave it strategic importance with the creation of NATO and the emergence of Atlanticism. The Atlantic Alliance no longer seemed relevant after the fall of the USSR, until the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir Putin's Russia brought it back to the forefront.
