As the world's leading cocoa producer, the country has one of the most dynamic economies in Africa, even though it was shaken by an almost decade-long civil war in the 2000s. Thanks to numerous resources such as cocoa, coffee, cashews, petroleum, and other mineral wealth, as well as major construction projects, Ivory Coast managed to overcome its painful past and revitalise its economy. But inequalities, the political climate, insecurity in the Sahel, and disagreements with neighbouring countries weaken Ivory Coast's development potential.
