This episode features an unexpected dive into the seawater pool at Saint-Quay-Portrieux in Brittany.
A seawater pool means that one can go swimming even at low tide. Built in 1929 on the Brittany coast in Saint-Quay-Portrieux, the 25-metre-long pear-shaped pool fills with water when the tide exceeds nine metres. The swimming pool shows the cyclical nature of the earth, which cannot be permanently suppressed by human intervention.
In her performance, initially exposed to the dominance of the machines responsible for maintaining the pool, the dancer gradually merges with the sea. The waves that fill the pool with the rising tide symbolise the return of nature to the space created by man. At the end, the dancer moves harmoniously in a world in which the "violence" of the machines and the sea has given way to a peaceful, balanced interplay. Here, in this place on the constantly changing coast, both forces are united in a harmonious balance.
Filmed in June 2024 at the seawater pool at Saint-Quay-Portrieux, France.
