Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, France and Ukraine: Across five European countries, Dance plus City builds a bridge between contemporary dance and architecture. A unique way of looking at the interaction between the fluidity of the body and physical structures which, despite their omnipresence, are too often ignored in everyday life. In this episode, we head for the Circus of Riga in Latvia.

Riga Circus, one of the oldest circus buildings in Europe, is a multifaceted arts centre that works specifically to bring relevant and contemporary circus performances to a wider audience and to promote the development of circus arts in Latvia and the Baltic States. The building, designed by Jānis Frīdrihs Baumanis in 1888, is the only permanent circus building in the Baltic States and an important cultural monument.

In this episode of Dance plus City, the circus arena becomes a living, breathing structure that echoes with the laughter and tears, joys and sorrows of a fragile yet fierce love. Every movement, every look, every touch within the historic walls of the arena symbolises the raw, unspoken dialogue of two souls and embodies the turbulent essence of the intricate dance of love.

Through the coming-together of choreography and architecture, it explores how love, like the circus, is a symphony of chaos and beauty. In harmony and discord, they coexist in a delicate and breathtaking balance.
