Jackson, a poor city in the southern United States, is in an extended state of emergency over its water crisis. Either there is no water, or the water is at low pressure or dirty. Residents have been told to boil it before drinking. For many, this latest scandal feels like the last straw. The economy is dying, shops are closing, and young graduates move to other cities. Local politics meanwhile is increasingly divided.
