Portugal: Workers fear for their rights

The government of centre-right politician Luis Montenegro is planning a reform of labour law to make the Portuguese economy more agile and stimulate growth. The more than 100 measures proposed include watering down employment protection legislation. The right to strike and parental protection are also to be curtailed. The Portuguese responded with the first general strike in 12 years.
