Iceland's "No": is Europe losing its appeal?

Nearly 53% of Icelanders said "no" in a referendum on seeking closer ties with Brussels. Other wealthy European nations, like Norway and Switerzerland, have also long resisted full membership of the club. Many, mostly right-wing politicians, have argued that only poorer nations want to join to reap the benefits the EU has to offer. How true is this? And has Iceland's rejection spelt an end to any enlargement plans currently on the table?
