Poland: wetlands as protective shields

Poland is considering restoring wetlands along its eastern frontier to help deter a potential Russian ground attack. Marshes and bogs are nearly impossible for tanks to traverse and also serve as valuable carbon sinks in the fight against climate change. These natural barriers could become a key component of the country’s Eastern Shield programme.
