Since returning to power 15 years ago, Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán has worked to weaken judicial independence. In February, thousands of judges protested publicly for the first time. After a close ally of Orbán threatened to blacklist them, many now fear losing their freedom of expression. Yet some judges continue to stand their ground.
