Hostile overflights and airspace violations have been on the rise, even leading to the collapse of the Latvian government. Alongside its neighbours, the Baltic nation frequently faces Ukrainian or Russian drone crashes. In the west, unauthorised drone overflights have been spotted over military bases and airports, prompting the EU to tackle the threat as part of a wider raft of defence measures. An anti-drone shield along the eastern flank is set to be operable by 2027. What does that mean and is it a viable option?
