On 6 February 2023, two violent earthquakes shook Turkey and Syria. Tens of thousands of people died and millions were left homeless. In many place, people had to wait for days for any help from the state to arrive. But in the face of the emergency, people organised themselves to help those buried under the rubble. Has the Turkish state failed them?
