Sex, Gender, & Freedom
The Hirschfeld Revolution53 min
Available until 06/06/2026
German sexologist, Magnus Hirschfeld (1868-1935) fought for the rights of queer people over a century ago. His Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (Institute for Sexual Science) in Berlin was a pioneering research centre on gay and transgender issues and a haven for the city’s queer community. Following in Hirschfeld’s footsteps this documentary examines the cultural war on trans-identities, from the 1920s and the present day.
