On 20 November 1975, Franco's death put an end to a bloody dictatorship that left Spain traumatised. The nation’s democracy, built on an amnesty law, has never condemned the crimes of his regime with victims still demanding justice and reparations. Two opposing narratives have formed: One is based on the duty to tell the truth, the other on nostalgia for a former order.
