For forty years, the word has evoked our worst nightmares of nuclear power made real: The explosion of a reactor, a radioactive cloud crossing Europe and the spectre of nuclear apocalypse. But Chernobyl is not a distant memory for Ukraine where the reactor is encased by a concrete sarcophagus and is threatened by Russian drone attacks.
