As the war in Ukraine enters its fourth year, the nation is facing a serious demographic problem: The war has led to millions of Ukrainians seeking refuge abroad, the birth rate has been low for years, and hundreds of thousands have died in the conflict. Some areas close to the Russian border are struggling to maintain a significant population level with schools closed, businesses struggling and entire villages empty.
