The Matisse Chapel
52 min
Available from 29/03/2026
The Matisse Chapel in Vence close to Nice in the South of France is the fruit of a special friendship between a young nurse and nun, Monique Bourgeois and the ageing artist Henri Matisse. Considered by some to be a great religious building of the 20th century, it shocked both the Catholic Church and the avant-garde when it opened its doors in 1951. This documentary focuses on a special building and a special relationship.
