In December 2024, Romania’s Constitutional Court annulled the first round of the presidential election, an unprecedented step for the country. Election interference on TikTok had propelled into the conversation an unknown candidate, Calin Georgescu, a pro-Russian and xenophobic politician. With fresh elections scheduled for May 2025, the far right is in full battle mode.
