Jews of Poland
The Struggle for Truth60 min
Available until 11/08/2026
Historian Jan T Gross caused a scandal in Poland with the publication of his book ‘Neighbours’ in 2000 which described how ordinary Poles, rather than German soldiers, had murdered their Jewish neighbours in the village of Jedwabne in World War II. The bitter dispute that followed on the Polish role in the Holocaust has divided society as academics struggle to tell the truth on the eradication of Poland’s jews.
