The horseshoe crab has been roaming the seabed for more than 450 million years, yet it has never been photographed in its natural habitat. That is until photograph Laurent Ballesta captured the strange animal of the deep and was awarded the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2023 for his efforts.
