Tenerife is a dream holiday destination for many with year-round sun and beautiful beaches. But with a rising population and an increase in tourist numbers, the island is struggling to cope: The water treatment infrastructure is overloaded and untreated waste-water is often discharged into the sea, a health danger to swimmers, surfers, and wildlife.
