Spain: New mosquitoes, new diseases

Due to climate change, mosquitoes carrying tropical diseases are becoming prolific in southern Europe. In 2024 in Spain, a West Nile virus epidemic killed 20 people and infected over 150 more in Andalusia. Although no cases have been detected since the start of summer, Andalusian authorities are preparing for the worst.
