39% of Serbians own a firearm, making it the highest density of guns in all of Europe, surpassed only by Yemen and the USA. Immediately after the killings, tens of thousands demonstrated in Belgrade as a sign of protest and reflection. President Aleksandar Vucic promised a plan for extensive disarmament of Serbians, and on May 26, a huge rally in Belgrade promoted a nationwide campaign to collect all citizens' firearms.
