In 1970, a large-scale photography programme run by the US Environment Protection Agency aimed to document the environmental situation of the United States. The tens of thousands of photos taken by hundreds of photographers constitute a unique archive, showing a country that was ravaged by pollution and environmental degradation, and one that has been largely forgotten.
