The Laureates concert at Brussels' Palais des Beaux-Arts is the undoubted highlight of the legendary Queen Elisabeth competition. This year, Taehan Kim took the top prize after impressing the judges with his stunning baritone. Second prize went to American contralto Jasmin White and third prize went to soprano Julia Muzychenko-Greenhalgh from Saint Petersburg.

Born in 1992, South African cellist and composer Abel Selaocoe finds himself at home in a wide range of genres, from beatbox right across to classical. His latest work, Four Spirits, is a tribute to his homeland and features Selaocoe on instrumental and vocal parts. Much of the vocals are in the Umngqokolo style, a form of throat singing that originated in South Africa.
