In April 2024, Rwanda commemorates the 30th anniversary of the genocide, a highly traumatic event in the history of the "country of a thousand hills". Between 7 April and 17 July 1994, in one hundred days, one million Tutsis and a minority of moderate Hutus were massacred. Today, the official policy is to forgive, and erase ethnic differences.
