The Arcimboldo effect - the trend of artists using everyday objects to create remarkable works of art - shows how art can be fun and playful while also being deeply creative and expressive. Arcimboldo used fruits, vegetables, and other everyday objects to create imaginative and whimsical portraits. Dali, on the other hand, was fascinated by optical illusions and surrealistic forms, while Svankmajer sought to express the hidden poetry in the simplest objects. Freya Jobbins uses recycled pieces and parts to create surprising sculptures, while Tim Noble and Sue Webster play with light and shadow to create astonishingly detailed portraits.
