On June 27, 1961, the artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude erected a barrier made of 89 petrol canisters in Paris on Rue Visconti. This poetic replica of the Berlin Wall was Christo's first art action in the French capital. The Iron Curtain made his work known to a larger audience for the first time.
