Hamburg 1962: The Great Flood
On the night of 16 February 1962, a massive storm surge pushed water from the North Sea inland to the port city of Hamburg, causing unprecedented destruction. Tens of thousands of homes were destroyed, road and rail infrastructure was put out of action and 315 people sadly died.
