Catherine Breillat is a filmmaker with a passion for literature. In 1988, she adapted one of her own novels, Virgin for the screen, followed in 1991 by “Dirty Like an Angel”. Highly regarded by critics, the director is relatively unknown amongst the general public. Breillat caused controversy in 1999 with her film “Romance”, which featured unsimulated sex scenes.
