On 19 September 2023, Azerbaijan attacked Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, under the pretext of an "anti-terrorist operation". The Azerbaijanis conquered the Armenian-inhabited enclave, which had been out of their control for 30 years, leading to the exile of 130,000 Armenians.
