Klash! Art in Action

Regina José Galindo's Tierra

3 min

On June 25, 2013, Guatemalan artist Regina José Galindo confronts us with the vulnerability of the individual in the face of brutal power. She stands naked in front of an excavator, which digs a deep trench around her until she remains perched on a tiny piece of land. Galindo's performance serves as a reminder of the mass murders targeting Guatemala’sindigenous community. Through her work, she sheds light on the atrocities committed and calls for reflection and awareness of historical injustices.
