Dirty Lands

Before losing his left arm in combat in 2015, Hallo Ramshty, an engineer by trade, was one of the best deminers in the Peshmerga, the Iraqi Kurdish army that fought ISIS. But post-war society has no regard for the sacrifices of its soldiers, and Hallo, who cannot even afford a prosthesis, has had to learn to adapt on his own. As ingenious as he is obstinate, and despite the nightmares that stalk his sleep, he hustles hard to stay afloat, by turns taxi driver, construction worker, and mechanic. When an intermediary offers to pay him a high fee for TNT, he hits on a dangerous idea: the mine fields outside of the city are full of explosives. A gripping docu-fiction.
