Founded in 1715, the Opéra Comique is one of the oldest cultural institutions in France. Its repertoire is a mix of theatre and opera. It has produced the world’s most often-performed French operatic masterpieces including Carmen, Lakmé, Manon, The Tales of Hoffmann and Pelléas and Mélisande. It was designated as a national theatre in 2005 and has been managed by Olivier Mantei since 2015.
