On 10 August 1628, just 18 minutes after her inauguration, the Swedish warship, the Vasa, sank in Stockholm harbour. Discovered in an exceptional state of preservation after 333 years underwater in 1961, the wreck is now preserved in a museum. Why did this formidable vessel sink? The investigation, launched the day after the disaster, continues today.
