In 1952, Philomena Lee was 19 years old. Pregnant in an ultraconservative Ireland, she was put in a mother and baby home run by the Catholic Church. Shortly after birth, her son was taken from her and adopted by an American couple. A tragic story adapted into film by Stephen Frears in 2013, starring Judi Dench.
