Alongside Egyptian hieroglyphics and Mesopotamian cuneiform, the Elamite script is one of the oldest known writing systems of mankind. It originated more than 4,000 years ago in Iran and was rediscovered around 100 years ago. For a long time, the script was considered indecipherable, but 15 years ago a young archaeologist took up the challenge.
