Dominican Republic: The Joy of LifeWomen's Realm
The Zapotecs of Mexico51 min
Disponible à partir du 11/08/2025
In the south of Mexico, in the town of Juchitán, there is still a town where women hold economic power. One of the engines of this economy are the fiestas that are held in the town to celebrate the women and the milestones in their lives. This matriarchal community is heir to a 2500-year-old civilisation, the Zapotec, which also recognised the existence of a third sex, the "muxes", born male but assuming female roles in the family and in society. How can this land of women, in one of the most macho countries in the world, still resist today?
