BattleScar
Punk was invented by girls

Battlescar follows Lupe, a 16 years old runaway, through the memories she writes in her diary. Voiced by Rosario Dawson, the movie starts in 1978 when Lupe meets Debbie, a young rebel with a passion for punk music, in the cell of a juvenile detention center. Battlescar uses real-time 3D animation and "6dof" technology to bring this 30-minute initiatory story to life.
Debbie will guide Lupe through one of New York’s most run-down and dangerous neighborhoods, the mythical Lower East Side, where punk music rubs shoulders with drugs and crime. Despite the risks, the two girls decide to start their own rock band, galvanized by dreams of fame and recognition.
“It’s a stunning project of creativity and inventiveness, which mixes 2D, 3D and stop-motion elements,” says Atlas V producer Arnaud Colinart. The staging breaks with what we are used to seeing in RV projects: the directors wanted to keep control of the narration with a frantic rhythm, leaving little room for contemplation”.
Imbued with poetry and feminism, Battlescar is also a tribute to the underground punk music scene of the 70s. Its feverish soundtrack covers all the classics of the time: Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Death or Lydia Lunch.
