RISPONDIMI – A Last Goodbye

A film by Ondine Novarese and Noémie Parreaux, co-produced by ARTE France and MB17 Films.

Back in Silvareccio, her family’s village in Corsica, Ondine sets out to rekindle the scattered memories she holds of Rosette, her late grandmother. From revisiting familiar haunts and chatting with her father, uncle, and Rosette’s lifelong friend, to making and sharing apple fritters with a distinctly Proustian twist, this unusual journey into remembrance — where AI breathes life into images of the departed — gently weaves together past and present, closeness and technology.

When Ondine hears about the landslide in the cemetery of Silvareccio, the Corsican village where her grandmother is buried, she’s struck by the unsettling feeling of losing her all over again. All she has left of Rosette are a few old photos — no videos, no recordings of her voice, not even the soft lilt of her Corsican accent. The memories are slipping away, and with them, the Corsican threads…
