Apr\u00e8s de nombreux retards sur les d\u00e9lais de fabrication et de livraison, habituels chez le cin\u00e9aste, sans compter la rumeur, elle aussi habituelle, d\u2019un montage non d\u00e9finitif qui pr\u00e9c\u00e9derait une version diff\u00e9rente, plus longue et plus conforme \u00e0 ses souhaits, <em>The Grandmaster<\/em> (<em>Yut doi jung si<\/em>) a dispens\u00e9 ses splendeurs devant les spectateurs de la Berlinale.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8673\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2013\/02\/grandmasters_1280_1.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8673\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2013\/02\/grandmasters_1280_1.png\" alt=\"un petit air de Matrix dans le premier combat de The Grandmaster\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2013\/02\/grandmasters_1280_1.png 1280w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2013\/02\/grandmasters_1280_1-419x280.png 419w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2013\/02\/grandmasters_1280_1-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2013\/02\/grandmasters_1280_1-580x386.png 580w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8673\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">un petit air de Matrix dans le premier combat de The Grandmaster<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Le film \u00e9voque la vie de Yip Man, figure l\u00e9gendaire du Kung fu (plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l\u2019\u00e9cole de l\u2019art martial \u00ab\u00a0wing chun\u00a0\u00bb), d\u2019abord \u00e0 Foshan ville du Sud-est de la Chine dans les ann\u00e9es 30, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son installation \u00e0 Hong Kong dans les ann\u00e9es 50 o\u00f9 il continuera d\u2019enseigner \u00e0 de nombreux \u00e9l\u00e8ves, et notamment Bruce Lee. Entre temps, Yip Man aura connu la gloire et la mis\u00e8re, vaincu ses nombreux adversaires \u00e0 mains nues, aim\u00e9 passionn\u00e9ment une femme et souffert de voir son pays envahi par l\u2019arm\u00e9e japonaise, responsable de sa d\u00e9ch\u00e9ance et de la mort de ses enfants.<br \/>\nLe film \u00e9tourdit par sa beaut\u00e9, notamment lors de combats en apesanteur film\u00e9s comme des sc\u00e8nes d\u2019amour. L\u2019espace et les mots nous manquent pour clamer \u00e0 quel point Zhang Ziyi et Tony Leung sont bouleversants de beaut\u00e9, alliant perfection photog\u00e9nique et \u00e9motion. Chaque plan, chaque mouvement de cam\u00e9ra joue sur diverses variations de vitesse (acc\u00e9l\u00e9rations et ralentis) avec une composition raffin\u00e9e capable de marier le calligraphisme chinois (tendance King Hu) et les prouesses acrobatiques des chor\u00e9graphies brutales et survolt\u00e9es de Yuen Woo-ping (tendance Tsui Hark et ses \u00e9mules techno\u00efdes.) On pourrait parler de cam\u00e9ra pinceau, et bravo au directeur de la photographie fran\u00e7ais Philippe Le Sourd qui sort vainqueur d\u2019une aventure de tournage qu\u2019on imagine \u00e9pique. La recherche impossible de l\u2019harmonie et de l\u2019\u00e9quilibre, dans un pays divis\u00e9 et plong\u00e9 dans le chaos de l\u2019Histoire, <em>The Grandmaster<\/em> ne parle que de cela, et la trajectoire personnelle de Yip Man devient le symbole de ce conflit entre la tradition et la modernit\u00e9, le souci de vivre selon un code d\u2019honneur sans cesse malmen\u00e9 par la trahison et la violence du monde. Ce qui vaut pour la Chine vaut aussi pour le cin\u00e9ma de Wong Kar Wai, qui semble ici trouver un accomplissement formel, aussi majestueux dans les sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action spectaculaires que la sensation visuelle pure et le m\u00e9lodrame. Les b\u00e9ances et les raccourcis, les ellipses qui traversent un r\u00e9cit al\u00e9atoire et d\u00e9construit permettent de r\u00eaver \u00e0 une fresque volontairement morcel\u00e9e et dont le cin\u00e9aste pourrait un jour proposer la globalit\u00e9 avec un ou plusieurs autres (tr\u00e8s) longs m\u00e9trages.<br \/>\nWong Kar Fai a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 son film sur sc\u00e8ne en disant qu\u2019il aurait pu s\u2019appeler \u00ab\u00a0Il \u00e9tait une fois le kung-fu\u00a0\u00bb. Citation leonienne explicit\u00e9e vers la fin du film, tr\u00e8s m\u00e9lancolique, o\u00f9 le cin\u00e9aste utilise la musique d\u2019Ennio Morricone compos\u00e9e pour <em>Il \u00e9tait une fois en Am\u00e9rique<\/em>, autre film sur la vie r\u00eav\u00e9e d&rsquo;un homme et l\u2019histoire d\u2019un amour malheureux. Apr\u00e8s Tarantino en ce d\u00e9but d\u2019ann\u00e9e, c\u2019est au tour de Wong Kar Wai d\u2019utiliser un extrait de bande originale pr\u00e9existante pour expliciter une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence et susciter une \u00e9motion particuli\u00e8re, provoqu\u00e9e \u00e0 la fois par l\u2019histoire de son film et les souvenirs cin\u00e9philiques des spectateurs. Tarantino en a fait depuis <em>Boulevard de la mort<\/em> une figure de style r\u00e9currente et un syst\u00e8me po\u00e9tique unique en son genre, Wong Kar Wai applique plut\u00f4t le principe qui \u00e9tait celui de Scorsese dans <em>Casino<\/em>, qui reprenait de mani\u00e8re inattendue la musique compos\u00e9e par Georges Delerue dans <em>Le M\u00e9pris<\/em> (le th\u00e8me de Camille)\u00a0: t\u00e9lescoper deux \u00e9poques, deux continents deux films pour montrer que les grands cin\u00e9astes modernes ou postmodernes (Godard, Leone, Scorsese, Wong Kar Wai) se retrouvent malgr\u00e9 leur diff\u00e9rences de culture pour \u00e9voquer l\u2019un des seuls sujets qui vaille la peine de faire de films\u00a0: la fascination, l\u2019incompr\u00e9hension ou la perte des femmes aim\u00e9es.<br \/>\n<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Grandmaster<\/em> sortira en France le 17 avril.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>C\u2019est finalement \u00e0 Berlin en ouverture du Festival que Wong Kar Wai (qui est \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sident du jury de la\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":116,"featured_media":8672,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.8 -
