M\u00eame en croyant conna\u00eetre par c\u0153ur ce chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre, on d\u00e9couvre que ce film labyrinthe est capable d\u2019accueillir une foule de messages et de significations plus ou moins cach\u00e9s, plus ou moins \u00e9vidents, inscrits \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur m\u00eame des plans, des d\u00e9tails du d\u00e9cor, des mouvements de cam\u00e9ra. C\u2019est d\u2019autant plus vrai que la version europ\u00e9enne de <em>Shining <\/em>est beaucoup plus courte que celle exploit\u00e9e aux Etats-Unis (Kubrick proc\u00e9da lui-m\u00eame \u00e0 de nombreuses coupes, surtout au d\u00e9but de son film) et <em>Room 237<\/em> permet au spectateur fran\u00e7ais n\u00e9ophyte de d\u00e9couvrir plusieurs s\u00e9quences inconnues de la version am\u00e9ricaine, riches en significations. <em>Shining<\/em>, au-del\u00e0 de son histoire d\u2019h\u00f4tel hant\u00e9 librement inspir\u00e9e d\u2019un roman de Stephen King (l\u2019auteur se sentit \u00e0 juste titre humili\u00e9 par l\u2019adaptation que fit Kubrick de son roman, tr\u00e8s sup\u00e9rieure au mat\u00e9riau litt\u00e9raire original), est \u00e9videmment un film sur toute la violence et l\u2019horreur du XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle (vues \u00e0 travers le regard terrifi\u00e9 d\u2019un enfant qui n\u2019est autre que Kubrick, petit juif de Brooklyn n\u00e9 en 1928), le pass\u00e9 qui ne passe pas (les fant\u00f4mes du g\u00e9nocide indien, de l\u2019Holocauste et du nazisme). Mais en s\u2019amusant un peu, on peut y voir beaucoup d\u2019autres choses moins s\u00e9rieuses\u2026 comme la conqu\u00eate de la Lune (clin d\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 un autre film de Kubrick, <em>2001: l\u2019odyss\u00e9e de l\u2019espace<\/em>). Room 237 \u00e9bauche aussi une tentative d\u2019explication des nombreux faux raccords et erreurs de continuit\u00e9 \u2013 parfois hilarantes &#8211; qui jalonnent les images de ce film o\u00f9 pourtant rien ne semble avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 laiss\u00e9 au hasard par le cin\u00e9aste d\u00e9miurge. Un film cerveau jonch\u00e9 d\u2019erreurs, n\u2019est-ce pas la parfaite all\u00e9gorie de la machine humaine pour Kubrick qui s\u2019est toujours passionn\u00e9 pour les dysfonctionnements et les d\u00e9r\u00e8glements des hommes comme des machines\u00a0?<\/p>\n<p>La forme de ce documentaire, majoritairement constitu\u00e9 de nombreux extraits de <em>Shining<\/em> et d\u2019autres films de Kubrick (mais aussi d\u2019extraits de <em>D\u00e9mons<\/em> de Lamberto Bava \u2013 un film d\u2019horreur italien des ann\u00e9es 80 qui se passe dans un cin\u00e9ma, il fallait y penser) est aussi excitante que son propos.
