Elle esp\u00e8re ainsi lui offrir un avenir plus radieux que le sien. Personne ne conna\u00eet la double vie \u00e9puisante de Mercedes, \u00e0 l\u2019exception d\u2019un agent de police qui tente de lui venir en aide.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Emilio Fern<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>ndez (1904-1986) est une l\u00e9gende du cin\u00e9ma mexicain classique. Acteur, r\u00e9alisateur, sc\u00e9nariste, producteur, cet homme \u00e0 la vie mouvement\u00e9 s\u2019affirma comme l\u2019incarnation du cin\u00e9ma de son pays dans les ann\u00e9es 40, ainsi que son meilleur ambassadeur. <em>Maria Candelaria<\/em>, l\u2019un de ses titres de gloire, remporta le Grand Prix (anc\u00eatre de la Palme d\u2019or) au Festival de Cannes en 1946. Surnomm\u00e9 \u00ab El Indio \u00bb en raison de son m\u00e9tissage indien (sa m\u00e8re \u00e9tait une indig\u00e8ne kikapu, son p\u00e8re un colonel d\u2019une des arm\u00e9es de la r\u00e9volution de 1910), Fern<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>ndez est m\u00eal\u00e9 tr\u00e8s jeune aux soubresauts de l\u2019histoire de son pays. Compagnon d\u2019armes de Pancho Villa, bless\u00e9 et emprisonn\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite de sa participation \u00e0 un putsch rat\u00e9, il s\u2019\u00e9vade et se r\u00e9fugie \u00e0 Hollywood o\u00f9 il exerce de nombreux m\u00e9tiers, notamment doublure de vedettes pour les sc\u00e8nes dangereuses. Amnisti\u00e9 en 1933, il rentre au Mexique o\u00f9 il r\u00e9alise son premier long m\u00e9trage en 1941. Parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 sa carri\u00e8re de cin\u00e9aste (41 films), il apparait en tant qu\u2019acteur au g\u00e9n\u00e9rique de nombreuses productions, aussi bien au Mexique qu\u2019aux Etats-Unis. Son chemin croise celui de John Ford, John Huston (il participe \u00e0 la production <em>Dieu et mort<\/em> et <em>La Nuit de l\u2019Iguane<\/em>), Sam Peckinpah (il interpr\u00e8te le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral sanguinaire de <em>La Horde sauvage<\/em>). <em>Sal<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00f3<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>n M\u00e9xico <\/em><\/strong><strong>est le treizi\u00e8me long m\u00e9trage r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par Fern<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>ndez. Le club qui donne son titre au film a r\u00e9\u00e9llement exist\u00e9. Ce lieu de d\u00e9bauche \u00e9tait fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 par des bandits, des prol\u00e9taires et des clients avides de sensations fortes. C\u2019\u00e9tait aussi une salle qui organisait des concours de danse, comme le montre la premi\u00e8re s\u00e9quence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Le cin\u00e9aste int\u00e8gre le folklore traditionnel mexicain (musiques afro-carib\u00e9ennes, c\u00e9l\u00e9brations de No\u00ebl et <\/strong><strong>pi\u00f1ata<\/strong><strong>) \u00e0 un commentaire social qui souligne l\u2019\u00e9cart entre les classes ais\u00e9es et le peuple, contraint \u00e0 la mis\u00e8re. Ce superbe m\u00e9lodrame, riche en rebondissements et en \u00e9motions fortes, comprend aussi des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de film noir et de trag\u00e9die. <em>Sal<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00f3<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>n M\u00e9xico <\/em><\/strong><strong>est empreint de ferveur chr\u00e9tienne, et glorifie le sens de l\u2019abn\u00e9gation de Mercedes qui connait un v\u00e9ritable martyre, victime de la violence de son souteneur, accul\u00e9e au crime pour sauver sa s\u0153ur. <em>Sal<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00f3<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>n M\u00e9xico <\/em><\/strong><strong>est une \u0153uvre d\u2019une remarquable ampleur visuelle. Fernandez et son directeur de la photographie Gabriel Figueroa privil\u00e9gient les d\u00e9cors urbains et tirent un excellent parti des ambiances nocturnes de la ville. <em>Sal<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00f3<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>n M\u00e9xico <\/em><\/strong><strong>compte parmi les fleurons de l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019or du cin\u00e9ma mexicain, et vient rappeler la sophistication des mises en sc\u00e8ne de Fern<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>ndez. L\u2019actrice Marga L\u00f3pez, vedette d\u2019origine argentine, y livre l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation la plus \u00e9mouvante de sa carri\u00e8re.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Sal<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00f3<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>n M\u00e9xico<\/em><\/strong><strong> (<em>Les Bas-fonds de Mexico<\/em>, 1949) de Emilio Fern<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>ndez sort en salle le mercredi 10 juin, distribu\u00e9 par Les Films du Cam\u00e9lia.
