{"id":26925,"date":"2022-01-18T11:43:34","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T10:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/?p=26925"},"modified":"2022-01-19T11:46:24","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T10:46:24","slug":"ptu-de-johnnie-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/2022\/01\/18\/ptu-de-johnnie-to\/","title":{"rendered":"PTU de Johnnie To"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dans la lign\u00e9e de\u00a0<em>The Mission<\/em>,\u00a0<em>PTU<\/em>\u00a0(2003) appartient sans conteste \u00e0 la veine ind\u00e9pendante et libre, voire exp\u00e9rimentale et avant-gardiste, de Johnnie To, cin\u00e9aste qui oscille en permanence entre le statut d\u2019auteur et de faiseur.\u00a0<em>PTU<\/em>\u00a0appara\u00eet comme l\u2019exacerbation de son ego d\u2019artiste, et davantage que\u00a0<em>The Mission<\/em>, donne \u00e0 voir une le\u00e7on de cin\u00e9ma et un v\u00e9ritable objet de recherche et d\u2019exploration cin\u00e9matographique, \u00e0 la fois ludique et frisant l\u2019abstraction. Il s\u2019agit pourtant d\u2019un polar urbain, une histoire de flics et de gangsters m\u00eal\u00e9s \u00e0 une affaire de vol d\u2019armes et de corruption, dans la lign\u00e9e de ses pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents films et des polars fabriqu\u00e9s \u00e0 la cha\u00eene dans l\u2019ex-colonie britannique. Mais son traitement formel, son sc\u00e9nario et l\u2019extr\u00eame stylisation de sa mise en sc\u00e8ne l\u2019\u00e9loignent du tout-venant de la production hongkongaise du d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000. Le titre \u00e9nigmatique,\u00a0<em>PTU<\/em>, d\u00e9signe une brigade de la \u00ab\u00a0Police Tactical Unit\u00a0\u00bb, en lutte contre la criminalit\u00e9 dans le quartier du port de la ville de Hong Kong. L\u2019action est concentr\u00e9e sur une nuit, et suit les trajets crois\u00e9s de plusieurs personnages : le sergent Lo qui s\u2019est fait voler son armes par une bande de voyous, et tente par tous les moyens, m\u00eame ill\u00e9gaux, de la retrouver ; l\u2019officier z\u00e9l\u00e9 Mike ; l\u2019inspecteur Cheung de la police criminelle qui enqu\u00eate sur la mort d\u2019un chef de gang\u2026\u00a0<em>PTU<\/em>\u00a0pourrait se r\u00e9sumer \u00e0 une ronde de nuit, parfois grotesque, parfois anecdotique, qui suit plusieurs trajectoires qui semblent al\u00e9atoires et d\u00e9bouchent pourtant sur un \u00ab\u00a0climax\u00a0\u00bb violent et chor\u00e9graphique. La beaut\u00e9 quasi hypnotique du film de To r\u00e9side dans la parfaite captation de la po\u00e9sie nocturne de la ville, dans ce m\u00e9lange de trivialit\u00e9 et de sophistication qui caract\u00e9rise les meilleurs films d\u2019ambiance urbaine. Il n\u2019est pas interdit de comparer le film de To aux premiers essais de Wong Kar Wai, eux aussi des d\u00e9ambulations nocturnes d\u00e9di\u00e9es aux destins crois\u00e9s de personnages ambivalents et opaques (<em>As Tears Goes By<\/em>, l\u2019excellent premier film de WKW).\u00a0<em>PTU<\/em>\u00a0se pare des oripeaux s\u00e9duisants du film de genre, mais comme\u00a0<em>The Mission<\/em>, exc\u00e8de les r\u00e8gles du thriller pour offrir aux spectateurs une brillante le\u00e7on de cin\u00e9ma m\u00e2tin\u00e9e d\u2019une promenade po\u00e9tique dans les rues de Hong Kong.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Spectrum a fait du beau travail qui ravira les fans du cin\u00e9ma de Hong Kong en proposant non seulement <em>PTU <\/em>mais aussi une saga d\u00e9riv\u00e9e, moins connue du grand public. Le succ\u00e8s de <em>PTU <\/em>\u00e0 Hong Kong a en effet engendr\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie de cinq films tourn\u00e9s dans la foul\u00e9e entre 2008 et 2009, tous produit par Johnnie To et qui reprennent les acteurs principaux du film original, Simon Yam et Maggie Siu. Ces films ne sont pas \u00e0 proprement parler des \u00ab\u00a0suites\u00a0\u00bb du premier <em>PTU<\/em> mais ils forment un ensemble coh\u00e9rent au traitement hyperr\u00e9aliste, directement destin\u00e9 au march\u00e9 vid\u00e9o et \u00e0 la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision \u00e0 l\u2019exception du cinqui\u00e8me film sorti dans les salles hongkongaises. Le coffret, qui contient de nombreux suppl\u00e9ments et commentaires critiques, est \u00e9galement accompagn\u00e9 d\u2019un livre d\u2019environ 160 pages sur PTU.
