Cette participation explique peut-\u00eatre le caract\u00e8re encore plus loufoque de ce long m\u00e9trage, qui repose enti\u00e8rement sur les principes du m\u00e9lange de genres et de styles, du pas de c\u00f4t\u00e9, de la citation r\u00e9f\u00e9rentielle et du clin d\u2019\u0153il au spectateur. Cette \u00e9vocation de la vie de Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre, paradoxalement assez respectueuse de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 historique, se permet toutes les audaces. Le film poss\u00e8de l\u2019un des prologues le plus d\u00e9routants de l\u2019histoire du cin\u00e9ma. L\u2019action d\u00e9bute dans le futur. Menac\u00e9 par un plan d\u2019invasion extraterrestre r\u00e9pondant au nom d\u2019Op\u00e9ration Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre, trois \u00e9missaires terriens entreprennent un voyage \u00e0 travers le temps et remontent jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9gypte ancienne, afin de percer le myst\u00e8re dissimul\u00e9 sous ce code d\u2019attaque. Ce ne sont pas leur corps qui empruntent une machine \u00e0 remonter le temps mais leur \u00e2me, r\u00e9incarn\u00e9es dans des enveloppes physiques vivants \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque de Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre\u00a0: une jeune \u00e9gyptienne, un esclave athl\u00e9tique et un l\u00e9opard, animal de compagnie de la reine. L\u2019\u00e9tranget\u00e9 de cet incipit est renforc\u00e9e par la technique employ\u00e9e, des prises de vues r\u00e9elles o\u00f9 le visage des acteurs a \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9 par des t\u00eates anim\u00e9es aux proportions caricaturales. Cet argument de d\u00e9part farfelu sera vite oubli\u00e9 au profit des \u00e9pisodes les plus connus de la relation amoureuse et politique entre Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre, C\u00e9sar et Antoine. Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre va syst\u00e9matiser l\u2019art du collage, du carambolage d\u2019influences esth\u00e9tiques et de l\u2019anachronisme d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent dans <em>Les Mille et Une Nuits<\/em>. Le film est un feu d\u2019artifices d\u2019id\u00e9es visuelles, de gags surr\u00e9alistes qui laisse le spectateur pantois. Ainsi le retour victorieux de c\u00e9sar \u00e0 Rome est-il l\u2019occasion d\u2019un montage ultra rapide de pastiches picturaux qui r\u00e9sume en quelques secondes toute l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art occidental. La mort de C\u00e9sar est quant \u00e0 elle abord\u00e9e par le prisme du th\u00e9\u00e2tre Kabuki, l\u2019une des rares occurrences de la culture traditionnelle nippone dans le film, avec l\u2019apparition clin d\u2019\u0153il de Toshiro Mifune dans son r\u00f4le de samoura\u00ef immortalis\u00e9 par les films de Kurosawa. Tezuka s\u2019amuse aussi \u00e0 inviter ses cr\u00e9ations les plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bres au d\u00e9tour d\u2019un plan, comme Astro le petit robot. <em>Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre <\/em>se transforme alors en cadavre exquis, avec un go\u00fbt du d\u00e9tournement, du collage et de l\u2019association d\u2019id\u00e9es stup\u00e9fiant et unique en son genre. La jubilation que procure ce film ne conna\u00eet gu\u00e8re de temps mort, \u00e0 la diff\u00e9rence des <em>Mille et Une nuits<\/em>. <em>Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre <\/em>d\u00e9veloppe un sens de l\u2019humour et un \u00e9rotisme particuli\u00e8rement \u00e9pic\u00e9. Le rock psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique qui accompagne les images renforce la nature hallucinatoire de cette objet filmique non identifi\u00e9. La bouffonnerie pure et simple y c\u00f4toie des passages tragiques ou m\u00e9lancoliques. Ce sentiment de trop-plein, de grivoiserie et d\u2019agit-prop pour \u00e9tudiants blagueurs sera balay\u00e9 par le film suivant de Yamamoto, l\u2019exp\u00e9rimental et \u00e9pur\u00e9 <em>Belladonna<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Film disponible en DVD et en blu-ray, dans une \u00e9dition r\u00e9unissant <em>Les Mille et Une Nuits<\/em> et <em>Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre<\/em> (Eurozoom).
