Le film sera \u00e9galement disponible gratuitement pendant sept jours en t\u00e9l\u00e9vision de rattrapage sur ARTE.tv.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Grand retour de Hou Hsiao-hsien apr\u00e8s huit ans de silence, prix amplement m\u00e9rit\u00e9 de la mise en sc\u00e8ne au Festival de Cannes, <em>The Assassin<\/em>\u00a0est un chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre absolu qui touche au sublime, un film qui c\u00f4toie les cimes de la cr\u00e9ation toutes \u00e9poques et disciplines confondues. Annonc\u00e9 \u00e0 juste titre comme la contribution de ma\u00eetre Hou au genre \u00ab\u00a0wu xia pian\u00a0\u00bb (film de cape et d\u2019\u00e9p\u00e9e chinois) dans la lign\u00e9e du g\u00e9nial\u00a0<em>A Touch of Zen<\/em>\u00a0de King Hu, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 70 lui aussi sous pavillon ta\u00efwanais,\u00a0<em>The Assassin<\/em>\u00a0\u00e9tablit des ramifications contemporaines \u00e9videntes sur les relations politiques entre la Chine et Ta\u00efwan. Situ\u00e9 au IX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle dans un contexte trouble o\u00f9 certaines provinces recul\u00e9es cherchent \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9manciper du pouvoir central,\u00a0<em>The Assassin<\/em>\u00a0est l\u2019histoire d\u2019une insubordination : celle de Nie yinniang, jeune femme entrain\u00e9e au meurtre somm\u00e9e par son ma\u00eetre, une nonne qui lui a enseign\u00e9e les arts martiaux, d\u2019\u00e9liminer Tian J\u2019ian, gouverneur dissident de la province militaire de Weibo. Or Tian J\u2019ian est le cousin de Nie yinniang, ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lev\u00e9s ensemble puis s\u00e9par\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019adolescence, et la jeune femme voue un amour profond et silencieux \u00e0 son compagnon d\u2019enfance. Confront\u00e9e \u00e0 un dilemme moral, Nie yinniang hante les jardins et les palais de Tian J\u2019ian comme une ombre l\u00e9tale pr\u00eate \u00e0 fondre sur sa proie, mais pr\u00e9f\u00e9rant observer l\u2019homme qu\u2019elle aime avec sa nouvelle concubine, secr\u00e8tement enceinte\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00ab\u00a0L\u2019art de l\u2019\u00e9p\u00e9e est sans c\u0153ur. Ta technique est infaillible mais ton \u00e2me est prisonni\u00e8re de tes sentiments\u00a0\u00bb lui dit la nonne, femme redoutable percevant les doutes de son \u00e9l\u00e8ve sous son apparente impassibilit\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Assassin<\/em>\u00a0contient des combats martiaux chor\u00e9graphi\u00e9s et relay\u00e9s par des effets sp\u00e9ciaux invisibles qui sid\u00e8rent par leur vitesse et leur concision, et tranchent dans une mise en sc\u00e8ne compos\u00e9e de longs plans aux mouvements de cam\u00e9ra presque imperceptibles, qui caressent les personnages \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re des voiles de soie rougeoyante (pour les int\u00e9rieurs) ou les branchages verts (pour les ext\u00e9rieurs) qui obstruent r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement le premier plan de l\u2019\u00e9cran. Loin de r\u00e9aliser une fresque monumentale HHH choisit l\u2019art de l\u2019esquisse, en disciple de la calligraphie chinoise. Le film d\u00e9bute ainsi par un prologue en noir en blanc, fid\u00e8le aux traits au fusain et aux estampes de l\u2019\u00e9poque d\u00e9crite dans le film. La picturalit\u00e9 de\u00a0<em>The Assassin<\/em>\u00a0s\u2019affirme avec l\u2019apparition de la couleur, le choix du format carr\u00e9 pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019habituel Cin\u00e9mascope des films \u00e0 costumes chinois, renforce la verticalit\u00e9 des lignes et permet \u00e0 Hou de composer des plans larges de paysages de montagnes et de for\u00eats stup\u00e9fiants de beaut\u00e9. La vari\u00e9t\u00e9 du grain de l\u2019image \u00e9voque davantage des subtiles touches de lumi\u00e8re et de peinture que des pixels num\u00e9riques. Le raffinement inou\u00ef des costumes et de la direction artistique ne transforme jamais\u00a0<em>The Assassin<\/em>\u00a0en objet d\u00e9coratif. Le c\u0153ur du film r\u00e9side dans l\u2019int\u00e9riorit\u00e9 des personnages, les conflits qui les d\u00e9chirent et qu\u2019ils ne peuvent exprimer.
