Un soir elle sauve la vie de son amant lors d\u2019un r\u00e8glement de comptes entre gangs rivaux, en tirant avec une arme \u00e0 feu. Elle refuse de d\u00e9noncer l\u2019homme qu\u2019elle aime et doit purger une peine de prison de plusieurs ann\u00e9es. A sa lib\u00e9ration, elle ne retrouve plus la petite communaut\u00e9 mafieuse qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 dissoute. Certains de ses membres ont fait fortune, d\u2019autres ont disparu ou sombr\u00e9 dans la mis\u00e8re. Avec courage et obstination, elle va r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 survivre puis \u00e0 conqu\u00e9rir une place dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00ab\u00a0Ce film combine la fiction et l\u2019enregistrement du r\u00e9el. Il est charg\u00e9 de la vie de l\u2019homme que je suis d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 46 ans. Il raconte une histoire tragique, mais sans larmes.\u00a0\u00bb (Jia Zhangke). D\u00e8s ses premiers films, et en particulier son chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre\u00a0<em>Platform,\u00a0<\/em>Jia Zhangke s\u2019est fait le chroniqueur de la Chine et de ses transformations \u00e0 l\u2019or\u00e9e du XXI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Le constat que dresse le cin\u00e9aste dans\u00a0<em>Les \u00c9ternels <\/em>(<em>Ash is Purest White\u00a0\/ <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Jiang Hu Er N\u00fc<\/em><\/strong><strong>), son nouveau long m\u00e9trage pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re en comp\u00e9tition au Festival de Cannes,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0frappe par son pessimisme. Le pays devient une entit\u00e9 monstrueuse qui broie dans son d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique les individus et d\u00e9truit les liens, familiaux, affectifs ou tribaux qui pouvaient exister entre les hommes et les femmes. Jia Zhangke explore de mani\u00e8re intimiste les genres chinois et hongkongais \u2013 film de gangsters, m\u00e9lodrame \u2013 sans se d\u00e9partir de son sens de l\u2019observation sociale. Les acteurs professionnels se m\u00ealent aux repr\u00e9sentants du peuple chinois dont les visages, les attitudes, les gestes du travail ou les moments de repos sont magnifiquement saisis par le cin\u00e9aste. Jia Zhangke scande comme \u00e0 son habitude son r\u00e9cit de chansons pop occidentales et asiatiques, comme autant de marqueurs temporels, de souvenirs collectifs. Scind\u00e9 en trois parties que traverse son admirable h\u00e9ro\u00efne, g\u00e9nialement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e par Zhao Tao,\u00a0<em>Les Eternels<\/em>\u00a0se fait aussi le t\u00e9moin du passage du temps au sein de l\u2019\u0153uvre de Jia Zhangke, avec les apparitions parcimonieuses d\u2019images datant des tournages de ses films pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents. Ce n\u2019est pas seulement l\u2019\u00e9volution de la Chine que le film documente, mais aussi la mani\u00e8re de travailler du cin\u00e9aste et sa relation avec l\u2019outil cin\u00e9ma, avec des qualit\u00e9s d\u2019images variables qui suivent les progr\u00e8s du num\u00e9rique. Le ma\u00eetre de Fenyang confirme avec\u00a0<em>Les \u00c9ternels<\/em>\u00a0qu\u2019il est un grand cr\u00e9ateur de formes et de r\u00e9cits.
