{"id":22842,"date":"2018-11-07T19:22:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-07T18:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/?p=22842"},"modified":"2020-04-07T17:05:42","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T16:05:42","slug":"au-seuil-de-la-vie-de-ingmar-bergman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/2018\/11\/07\/au-seuil-de-la-vie-de-ingmar-bergman\/","title":{"rendered":"Au seuil de la vie de Ingmar Bergman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>En marge du centenaire Ingmar Bergman c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 cet ann\u00e9e, de la r\u00e9trospective \u00e0 la Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que fran\u00e7aise qui vient de s\u2019achever et \u00e0 la projection de plusieurs de ses films dans les salles actuellement, retour sur un titre rare du cin\u00e9aste su\u00e9dois, huis-clos f\u00e9minin dans une chambre d\u2019h\u00f4pital\u00a0: <em>Au seuil de la vie<\/em> (<em>N\u00e4ra livet<\/em>, 1958).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dans une clinique d\u2019accouchement, trois femmes partagent la m\u00eame chambre. Cecilia (Ingrid Thulin) vient de faire une fausse couche, Stina (Eva Dahlbeck) est sur le point d\u2019accoucher, tandis que Hj\u00f6rdis (Bibi Andersson) est soign\u00e9e pour un avortement manqu\u00e9.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>La bourgeoise Cecilia vit ce drame intime comme la faillite de son mariage et annonce \u00e0 son mari son intention de divorcer.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Dans la fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie cr\u00e9atrice des ann\u00e9es 50 qui lui fait encha\u00eener mises en sc\u00e8ne de th\u00e9\u00e2tre et tournages de films, Bergman r\u00e9alise\u00a0<em>Au seuil de la vie\u00a0<\/em>le m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 que<em>\u00a0Les Fraises sauvages<\/em>, en 1957.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Malgr\u00e9 le prix de la mise en sc\u00e8ne ainsi qu\u2019un prix collectif d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation f\u00e9minine au Festival de Cannes l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante,\u00a0<em>Au seuil de la vie<\/em>, \u0153uvre de commande, n\u2019acc\u00e9dera pas \u00e0 l\u2019immense notori\u00e9t\u00e9 du\u00a0<em>Septi\u00e8me Sceau<\/em>\u00a0ou de\u00a0<em>La Source<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Encore aujourd\u2019hui, c\u2019est un film peu vu et peu comment\u00e9, en comparaison de ses autres titres en noir et blanc de la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode. Il ne peut pr\u00e9tendre au statut de chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre, sans doute parce que la mati\u00e8re romanesque dont s\u2019inspire Bergman, d\u2019habitude unique sc\u00e9nariste de ses films, para\u00eet assez dat\u00e9e, aux confins de la th\u00e8se \u00e9difiante sur les affres de la maternit\u00e9.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Mais Bergman demeure ma\u00eetre dans l\u2019art du huis clos f\u00e9minin et les murs blancs de la clinique, entre lesquels fermentent souffrances, frustrations et n\u00e9vroses, anticipent les salons aux tentures rouges de<em>\u00a0Cris et\u00a0Chuchotements<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Dans son livre\u00a0<em>Images<\/em>\u00a0consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 ses films, Bergman explique qu\u2019il gardait un souvenir n\u00e9gatif d\u2019<em>Au seuil de la vie<\/em>, mais qu\u2019il prit plaisir \u00e0 le revoir lorsqu\u2019il s\u2019y d\u00e9cida.
