{"id":22456,"date":"2018-07-12T12:37:04","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T11:37:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/?p=22456"},"modified":"2018-07-19T12:37:29","modified_gmt":"2018-07-19T11:37:29","slug":"datteinte-de-steven-soderbergh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/2018\/07\/12\/datteinte-de-steven-soderbergh\/","title":{"rendered":"Hors d\u2019atteinte de Steven Soderbergh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dans le cadre de son \u00ab\u00a0Summer of Lovers\u00a0\u00bb ARTE diffuse <em>Hors d\u2019atteinte<\/em> (<em>Out of Sight<\/em>, 1998) de Steven Soderbergh dimanche 29 ao\u00fbt \u00e0 20h50.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hors d\u2019atteinte<\/em> permit \u00e0 Soderbergh de trouver sa voie au c\u0153ur du cin\u00e9ma hollywoodien, apr\u00e8s le succ\u00e8s \u00e9crasant de son premier film (Sexe, mensonge et vid\u00e9o, 1989) et un long passage \u00e0 vide, travers\u00e9 de r\u00e9ussites et d\u2019\u00e9checs, d\u2019h\u00e9sitation entre une veine exp\u00e9rimentale et un go\u00fbt du r\u00e9cit classique. A force de changements de registre, de t\u00e2tonnements, d&rsquo;exp\u00e9riences, Soderbergh devait finir par r\u00e9aliser un film totalement satisfaisant, qui est paradoxalement une pure commande d\u2019un studio \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019un r\u00e9alisateur pour signer un polar avec George Clooney et Jennifer Lopez. Dans <em>Hors d\u2019atteinte<\/em>, l\u2019alchimie entre la mise en sc\u00e8ne, le sc\u00e9nario, les acteurs y est proche de la perfection. Adaptation d&rsquo;un roman de l\u2019\u00e9crivain \u00ab\u00a0pulp\u00a0\u00bb Elmore Leonard, au m\u00eame titre que <em>Get shorty<\/em> et <em>Jackie Brown<\/em>, <em>Hors d&rsquo;atteinte<\/em> pourrait clore du propre aveu de Soderbergh une sorte de trilogie informelle. Si <em>Get shorty<\/em> \u00e9tait une farce, <em>Jackie Brown<\/em> une oeuvre (d\u00e9j\u00e0) m\u00e9lancolique, <em>Hors d&rsquo;atteinte<\/em> emprunte le registre du film noir romantique. C&rsquo;est l&rsquo;histoire d&rsquo;un braqueur de banques, qui op\u00e8re sans arme et poss\u00e8de \u00e0 son palmar\u00e8s plus de deux cents casses. Incorrigible et talentueux dans son art, il est \u00e9galement tr\u00e8s dou\u00e9 pour se faire pincer par la police et a connu de nombreux s\u00e9jours en prison. Lors d&rsquo;une audacieuse \u00e9vasion, il kidnappe une femme flic et lui conte fleurette dans un coffre de voiture. A partir de cette br\u00e8ve rencontre, ils ne cesseront de jouer au chat et \u00e0 la souris, amoureux l&rsquo;un de l&rsquo;autre, des deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la loi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sur le plan formel, Soderbergh s\u2019inscrit dans la tradition du n\u00e9o film noir, avec des retours en arri\u00e8re, un r\u00e9cit \u00e9clat\u00e9 et des emprunts \u00e0 la modernit\u00e9. Soderbergh avait r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 1995 <em>A fleur de peau<\/em>, un remake de <em>Criss cross<\/em> de Robert Siodmak partiellement ignor\u00e9 par la critique et terrible \u00e9chec public. Mais cette confrontation du cin\u00e9aste intellectuel avec la mati\u00e8re triviale du cin\u00e9ma de genre laissait entrevoir des enjeux plus captivants que la lourdeur symbolique et visuelle de <em>Kafka <\/em>par exemple.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Si l&rsquo;on s&rsquo;amuse au jeu \u00ad in\u00e9vitable \u00ad des comparaisons avec <em>Jackie Brown<\/em>, on constate dans les deux films des orientations formelles distinctes ; une esth\u00e9tique volontairement plate chez Tarantino, beaucoup d&rsquo;\u00e9clat et une narration fragmentaire chez Soderbergh. Tarantino avait d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de s&rsquo;inspirer du filmage t\u00e9l\u00e9visuel dans son troisi\u00e8me long m\u00e9trage, tandis que l&rsquo;ambition de Soderbergh est de s&rsquo;inscrire dans une tradition du film noir, avec son recours pr\u00e9coce au flash-back (<em>Boulevard du cr\u00e9puscule<\/em> de Billy Wilder), ses r\u00e9cits embrouill\u00e9s (<em>Le Grand Sommeil<\/em> de Howard Hawks), jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 ses emprunts des tics de la modernit\u00e9 (<em>Le Point de non-retour<\/em> de John Boorman). <em>Hors d&rsquo;atteinte <\/em>adopte cette fa\u00e7on compliqu\u00e9e de raconter une histoire simple, sans jamais perdre de vue l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 et la s\u00e9duction du cin\u00e9ma am\u00e9ricain.
